Caça de Cases

In which we hunt for a place to live

I had arranged for us to have an AirBnB for the first month were here so we could visit various neighborhoods and get sense of what was available and where we want to live. Barcelona is a big and diverse city and we've only barely started to figure thing out. However, part of our immigration is that we must register with the authorities and obtain identification cards. In order to do that you need an address and proof you will be living there for more than 6 months. Our current place, while not terrible, leaves a lot to be desired, a bit loud, a bit dirty, though the neighborhood is nice.

We wanted a place that was an easy commute for Mad and Henry to and from school and reasonably close to a major metro line.

It's looking like we have found a place in Guinardo that fits the bill, close to school, terrace with a great view, some room for guests.

Guinardo

Guinardo has the feeling of a small village, which it was before being incorporated into Barcelona. It it set upon foothills looking down to the city and the sea. Still, you can walk to Sagrada Familia in 30 minutes or hop on the Yellow Line, Línea 4, in under 10 minutes.

Although not the best view, this gives some idea of what you see from the apartment's terrace.

View from the terrace

Mad and Henry will be able to walk to school in about 15 minutes.
