Since Thanksgiving Thursday is just a regular day here, we celebrated on Saturday. After some searching, I found a whole fresh turkey at my favorite of the public markets, the Abaceria, in Gracia.
It was about 10 pounds and not cheap (€40) but well worth it – I thought it was one of the best turkeys I’d ever eaten.
Since we don’t have a pie pan, we had an apple tart instead.
The only dish really lacking was cranberry sauce. I found a few recipes online swearing you could make good sauce from dried cranberries – I tried one and was not at all convinced.
Although they don’t do Thanksgiving, Spaniards have enthusiastically embraced Black Friday (in English), which I found bizarre. It’s common even for food shops to offer discounts on that day.
