CE Europa Faces Sant Andreu in the Derby

Henry and I have been going to matches of one of the local terca division futbol clubs, CE Europa.

They are not the closest to our house, but are a 15 minute walk away into northern Gracia.

They play at a 7000 seat stadium call Nou Sardenya. Henry gets in for free and my ticket is €10. The quality of the futbol is really quite good.

On this particular day, we watched the home derby match between Europa and Sant Andreu. Both sides had supporters present in force and songs rang out from both ends of the stadium for the entire match. On the pitch, there was a fair bit of argie bargie, like any proper derby match, with the referee needing to separate the players on a couple of occasions.

In the end, Sant Andreu prevailed 2 - nil, in a result that flattered them. The match was very even with the referee chalking off a perfectly good Europa goal for offsides and the Sant Andreu keeper saving a penalty. Sant Andreu's first goal resulted from calamitous defending that is uncharacteristic of the typically well-drilled Europa backline.
