Setmana Blanca

Fifth grade is a good year to start going to princess Margaret school. You get to go on a ski trip for the whole school week to a resort called Boi Taull about 4 hours away from Barcelona. You sleep in a hotel room with 1-3 of your friends.

For skiers from New England, Boi Taull has pretty impressive stats: At 9,025 feet tall (2751 meters) It is significantly taller than Mount Washington (6289 feet or 1917 meters) and also has roughly twice the snow pack of Mount Washington (1/25/2020 at the summit: 220 centimeters vs 102).

Being away from my parents was much easier for me than many other of the people on the trip, having gone to Willian Laurence Camp, so I was somewhat surprised when people got a little upset after not seeing their parents for a few days. I soon realized that they may not have had that experience like I did.

From Sarah...it wasn't an ideal week, from a meteorological point of view. The ski area was completely closed one day due to high winds, possibly due to the same storm that hit Barcelona. The kids still enjoyed themselves in the snow, though some parents were very upset about it (from a distance).

The Boi Taull resort is the highest in the Pyrennees, with a base elevation of 2,020m (6,627ft). https://www.vallboi.cat/en/bo%C3%AD-taull

It's in the Valley of Boi, a UNESCO world heritage area. The place looks amazing, both in summer and winter: https://www.vallboi.cat/en
