On Friday a national state of emergency was put into effect, effective Saturday, to stem the spread of Coronavirus.
The Spanish government enacted explicit instructions (forwarded to me in English from the US Dept. of State) about what we are allowed to leave the house to do:
a. To obtain food, medicine, and basic necessities.
b. To obtain medical care.
c. To go to and from work (if you cannot telework).
d. To return to your habitual place of residence.
e. To assist and care for the elderly, minors, and vulnerable populations.
f. To go to the bank, ATM, or other financial entity.
g. Due to force majeure or other emergency (isn't one enough!).
h. Another activity of a similar nature. People are expected to be alone unless accompanying someone requiring assistance or for some other justified cause.
The official government bulletin spells it out, in Spanish of course.
La Vanguardia offered some clarification about the law. Thankfully, dog-walking is allowed!
