Comptant les Nostres Benediccions
The big bad:
- We have never used the health care system here -- at a time like this, I'd like to at least have first-hand experience with it.
- We have no family or close friends here to call on in case of emergency. Enough said.
The small bad:
- We don't have a full complement of cooking and baking gear and ingredients, so some kitchen projects are not possible, or are so ambitious as to be unappealing.
- I miss our arts and crafts supplies, my sewing machine and quilting scraps right about now. I REALLY miss our printer.
- We don't have a vegetable garden here -- it's a perfect time to plan and start seeds.
- We can't chip away at our long-term to-do lists for home repairs, organizing and purging at home.
The good:
- We can't chip away at our long-term to-do lists for home repairs, organizing and purging at home! I did enough of that last year.
- Our Barcelona townhouse is very spacious by European standards, with 4 bedrooms and a finished basement. There is room for everyone to have a work area and to change venue occasionally.
- We have a beautiful large terrace with trees, plants and a grill. It's just big enough for some ball-handling soccer drills, and we have a ping-pong table. And it is spring here.
- Lusi! We have a hilltop park one block from our house, and an excuse to use it. She may be a very tired dog – it seems only one person is supposed to walk her at a time.
- An exercise bike came with the house. We are requiring Mad and Henry to do 20-30 minutes each weekday.
- We have a large, almost American-sized fridge and freezer.
- I brought a copy of Hoyle to Spain. Shortly before the state of alarm was declared, I finally bought 2 decks of cards. So Henry and I can become card sharks if we run out of things to do.
